Editorial commitment: make verifiable facts clear first
ColorNote’s standard: important product facts, data handling, methodology claims, and outside information must lead back to material that directly supports them. Authors distinguish facts, explanations, product advice, and judgments that remain unverified.
Each page names an author or responsible team. Technical, privacy, or specialist topics also identify the review role.
When a primary source is available, link it directly. A citation must support the nearby claim, not merely decorate the page with an authoritative name.
Show a publication or update date and recheck the page after material product, policy, or source changes.
ColorNote is also the product publisher, which creates an inherent interest when we describe our own features. Code, public interfaces, and policies are primary evidence of how ColorNote works; our marketing copy is not independent proof of effectiveness.
Source hierarchy: closer to the original fact comes first
| Priority | Prefer | Best used for | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Statutes and regulations, regulators, open standards, product source code/public APIs, original data, and official policies | Rules, product behavior, data flows, definitions, and directly observable facts | Confirm version, jurisdiction, and publication date |
| 2 | Peer-reviewed original research, research-institution reports, and formal professional-association guidance | Methods and scientific or professional context | Do not turn one study into consensus or extrapolate beyond its sample |
| 3 | An institution’s or brand’s official documentation about its own product, service, pricing, or process | Facts about that organization’s offering | Does not by itself prove effectiveness or superiority |
| 4 | High-quality secondary reporting with an author, date, editorial process, and traceable references | Context, history, and multiple perspectives | Do not substitute it for an available primary source |
- Unsigned aggregators, SEO rewrites, untraceable screenshots, search snippets, and AI answers cannot be the sole factual source.
- Social and community posts may document lived experience, but must be labeled as individual experience and not generalized without stronger evidence.
- Open outbound links before publication. For paywalled or fragile sources, record the publisher, title, and exact claim they support.
- Recheck numbers, dates, prices, versions, policies, and “latest” claims as of publication; never fill them in from model memory.
Author, reviewer, and publisher accountability
- Define the question and audienceState what the page must answer, which passages are factual or advisory, and which professional boundaries must not be crossed.
- Collect and open the sourcesStart with primary material and map each source to the claim it directly supports. Do not write a conclusion from a search-result snippet.
- Check actual product behaviorFor ColorNote features, inspect current code, request contracts, public pages, or reproducible behavior. Keep separate paths—such as app and web—separate.
- Editorial and domain reviewThe author checks wording and citations. Technical, privacy, legal, or specialist passages go to the corresponding responsible role.
- Localization and link reviewAdapt Chinese, English, and Korean naturally while preserving the same factual boundary. Check canonical, hreflang, dates, and outbound links.
- Publish with metadataShow the author, reviewer role, and update date, and express the same information in Article and Breadcrumb structured data.
Content, context, and citations
The author owns the wording, source match, dates, and uncertainty for every important claim. A reviewer is not a substitute for careful authorship.
Critical facts and boundaries
The reviewer checks facts, data flows, risks, and limits within their role. Review does not imply blanket endorsement of every external source.
AI may assist editing; it may not become the evidence
Organization and expression
- Outline reader questions
- Draft translations and check terminology consistency
- Improve grammar, readability, and structure
- Help detect broken links, missing metadata, and formatting errors
Facts and accountability
- Do not treat model memory as a source
- Do not invent citations, numbers, quotations, or consensus
- Do not claim a source supports text without opening it
- Do not independently publish medical, legal, privacy, or product-behavior conclusions
Even when AI helps with an outline, rewrite, or localization, the named publishing team remains responsible. Factual passages must return to an opened primary/official source or reproducible product behavior. If a claim cannot be verified, remove it, clearly frame it as opinion, or label it “not verified.”
Corrections: provide evidence and leave an understandable update
Any reader, user, or source organization may request a correction. Registration is not required, and a correction is not deprioritized because it is inconvenient for product marketing.
Email support@colornote.top
When possible, include the page URL, exact sentence or screenshot, the proposed correction, a directly supporting source, and the date you noticed it. For privacy or security concerns, do not send unnecessary personal data.
- Classify the issueDetermine whether it is a factual error, stale information, translation drift, broken link, implementation mismatch, or a difference of opinion.
- Return to primary evidenceThe responsible role checks the source or reproduces the behavior. When evidence is insufficient, say “not verified” rather than guess.
- Correct all affected languagesWhen one fact affects Chinese, English, and Korean, update them together so one version does not keep spreading the old claim.
- Leave an update trailA material correction updates visible dates and
dateModified, with a note in the relevant passage or page. Pure typography or wording that does not change meaning may be fixed without a separate correction note.
When we update—and when older content should remain visible
Request fields, retention, algorithm output, pricing, platform support, or a user-visible workflow changes materially.
An official document changes, a link fails, new research alters the conclusion, or the old source no longer applies to the current region or version.
We receive reproducible product evidence, an official clarification, or a higher-priority source that changes reader understanding or decisions.
Evergreen guides still need checks for date-sensitive facts, links, and cross-language consistency. We do not manufacture an “update” when nothing changed.
Pages keep the original publication date and change the modification date after material edits. If content cannot be updated safely, label it outdated, replace it with a current page, or remove it from public navigation instead of using an old date to imply continuing validity.
Product relationships, commercial interests, and outside collaboration
- ColorNote feature descriptions are first-party product information. They can establish how the product is implemented, but cannot alone establish that it works better than alternatives.
- A page may link to the ColorNote app, but download, subscription, and feature promotion must be expressed separately from editorial evidence.
- If an outside brand, institution, expert, advertiser, or affiliate arrangement provides payment, samples, commission, or editorial input, disclose it prominently on the affected page.
- When there is no commercial relationship, do not invent an “independent partnership” or “no commission” claim merely to sound neutral. Disclose only verified relationships.
Official publishing references behind this policy
These references help calibrate disclosure of who made content, how and why it was made, author/date metadata, and structured-data expression. They are not third-party certification of ColorNote’s editorial quality.
